TaylorMade was started in 1979 by Gary Adams, the inventor of the first metalwood which has now revolutionised the game of golf from the tee replacing persimmon woods.
TaylorMade was independently owned until 1984 when Salomon S.A. aqcuired the company. TaylorMade remained a part of Salomon until Adidas bought Salomon in 1997.
The key focus of the company was redirected shortly after the Adidas acquisition to target the golf driver market; the company succeeded in achieving this goal in late 2005 when it officially became the No. 1 driver in golf.
TaylorMade drivers, fairway woods and hybrids are now leading the technology within the golf industry with "White" designs to help alignment in all weather conditions. TaylorMade continue to invest in R&D to develop market leading irons, wedges, and golf balls.
TaylorMade's putter offerings are sold under their Rossa brand and include their premium putters from Kia Ma and also the new "Ghost" range in pure white.
